Rathmines Hillwalkers tackle the foggy conditions!

Dear hillwalkers, well done on the weekends adventure. You all did incredibly well using your maps and compasses to get to the top of Maulin Mountain, and most importantly, find the right way down! It was a shame the fog obscured the views, but it was great practice!

As th e course progresses you will gain confidence in taking a bearing from a map and using it with your compass. And eventually we can dispense with the protractors and just use the compass to get all fo the informaiton we need.

City Hill Walking Course finishes with a flourish

City Centre hillwalkers, here we are as we scaled the maazing Scarr Mountain on another magnificient day. Indeed, our course has proven one thing, and that bad weather in Ireland does not really exist! I hope you enjoyed the course, and will now use your new skills to hit the hills over the summer.

So here are the pictures from Scarr.

Dermot and Fergus taking it handy at the top of the mountain.

Beautiful Loch Dan. A private Garden of Eden.

More views from the top.

Hope to see you all in the hills! Keep up the hillwalking and stay safe.

Camaderry and Turlough Hill

Here are a few shots from our trek up Camaderry. Bit of an endurance test this one, with close enough to 6 hours worth of walking. Amazing views at the top though. This walk also showcased the height of hillwalking fashion, with Kevin sporting a lovely garbage bag. However, we were all disappointed to see Michelle had left the yellow waterproofs at home! Maybe next time.

Talk about four seasons in one day! From rain and wind to glorious sunshine. All in a Wicklow day!!!

Stunning Views of the Spinc.

Well done again to all fo the Walkabout Wicklow Hill walkers on a stunning effort!

Conquering Slieve Donnard

Here are a few pictures from our trip to Slieve Donard. Well done to all of those that took part. Scaling the mountain along the Glen River route in only two hours and fifteen minutes was pretty impressive. A climb from 20m above sea level to about 860m us not to be sneezed at. Well done again to all those people that took part. Indeed the whole weeked was a great success, inlcuding the lovely dinner and drinks in Carlingford that evening. Hopefully we may be able to squeeze another weekend away for the club at some stage this year.

On the way back off the mountain enjoying the sea views.

This is the day Kevin and I went up the top to prove the route.

Thanks everyone for what was a fantastic weekend!
